ひなまつり

ひなまつり is celebrated on March 3rd every year in Japan.

It is a celebration of girls and the hope that they are healthy and happy, both now and for the future.

Special dolls depicting the Emperor and Empress' court are displayed and meals are prepared and traditional food is eaten.

Girls often dress in きもの and, with their family, may visit shrines to pray for their future.
